Youth
2006 -
Religion
without prejudices
Home
The period for the project will be from
Friday, 4th of August until Thursday 17th of August 2006 and will take place here at the ZEB Stephansstift in
Hanover.
The project is open to young people in the age of 18 up to 25 years who are open towards gaining new experiences in contact with different religions, cultures and people from other countries. Our wish is to have a lot of different religions here, but it is not necessary that you are either a strong believer or religious at all. You just should be tolerant towards all the other participants. As there will be the maximum of 60 participants plus team leaders and we are expecting at least groups from four countries or more, your group should not include more than about 10 people. Main Topics for the program will be the
following:
-
Getting to know other people and become more open towards other ways of living and thinking
-
Presenting your religion to the other participants
-
Discussion about the differences of religions
-
Discussion about the religious freedom in different countries
-
Finding ways to get more tolerance between the religions and its different symbols
-
Finding ways against intolerance and xenophobia
-
Visits to several local religious centres, for example the Christian or Jewish Community
-
Visit Hanover City and its town hall
-
Of course there should be several speeches from federal representatives speaking about religion in Germany and about the problems of sects and small religious
communities.
-
Enough space for group games or role plays, e.g. “theatre of the oppressed” and others
-
And last but not least see what we can learn from the others to make the world a more tolerant and saver
place.
Our final aim is to produce a charter for the right and tolerant dealing with other religions which could be used in a variety of different circumstances of life.
